Great bands, but the venue cheated us
Congrats, Daniel Island, you've outdone yourself. Just before Don Toliver took the stage, the venue announced that there was lightning nearby, so everybody was forced to leave their seats and travel to the concourse. We then enjoyed a great performance...only to find out that the venue has an 11:00 curfew. In 40 years, I've never had a concert venue cleared because of distant lightning and a rainshower. Sure, I understand why they would clear the metal bleachers, but that's only the very top of the stadium. For our full-price tickets, we received a 45-minute set from Don Toliver. At some point, the confused concertgoers heard the first few notes of Don Toliver playing live and suddenly bolted for their seats. To their credit, Don Toliver was apologetic and gracious; however, Volvo Car Stadium needs to reconsider its policies. It's not often that the opening bands play longer sets than the headliner, but that's what happened at Volvo Car Stadium. There we stood, mostly in the rain as there is very little "cover" in a tennis stadium, for about 45 minutes. Give me a break.
